Ruth Wakefield, who is known to have created the chocolate chip cookie back in the 1930’s, used to own this incredible bayside, 3-acre, 8600 SF home in Duxbury, MA.  The estate dates back to 1745 and is listed for nearly $9 million.

Known as the Joshua Thomas House, the home is linked to being a passageway to the Underground Railroad.  It is said by the owner that the estate has hidden hallways that lead to the salt marsh nearby.  It is suspected that these hallways were used to smuggle escaped slaves to Canada.
